Morocco Post \ Philadelphia, PA
A monitoring service of Islamist websites said Friday al-Qaeda Organization in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) has issued a statement extending the deadline to 2/20/2010 to seal the fate of the French hostage Pierre Camatte and giving the Italian government 25 more days, that is till March 1st,  to release al-Qaeda prisoners  in return for the liberation of the Italian Cicala Sergio.

Al-Qaeda made no mention of three Spanish held in Northern Mali and Cicala’s wife Philomene Pawelgba Kabore.

On the other hand, Mali’s President Amadou Toumani was reported to say he was optimistic about the fate of six Euorpean held in his country and urged avoidance of a military intervention since negotiations are underway to secure the release of the captives either through a ransom or through release of the four al-Qaeda members imprisoned in Mali.
