Morocco’s Foreign minister Taib Fassi Fihri said on Wednesday that Morocco “strongly” reaffirms its rejection of the “confirmed” involvement of agents from the Norwegian defense ministry in the kidnapping of the children of the Moroccan Olympic champion Khalid Skah.
Following a meeting with the Norwegian press on Skah children’s case, the minister said that the Moroccan people and the government of HM King Mohammed VI strongly reaffirm their rejection of the confirmed involvement of not only the agents who came from Norway, but also the embassy, and the ambassador of Norway in Rabat himself in this issue.
Fassi Fihri underlined that Morocco has denounced this operation of kidnapping, required explanations and insisted that the truth be known and that the rights of the children and the father be recognized.

This is an operation of abduction that took place as if Morocco had no rules and regulations to abide by like other countries of the world, he added.
In this respect, the official recalled that Norway’s embassy and diplomats acted against the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
We express our utter discontent over the fact that this issue was not resolved according to the traditional terms of a legal cooperation and a consular dialogue between the two countries, Fassi Fhri said.
While we were looking for a solution that takes account of the children’s interests, beyond those of the parents, this act, reprehensible from every point of view, occurred when Norway wanted to deliver justice on the Moroccan territory, which we completely denounce, he said.
The involvement of Norway’s embassy, maintained from the outset by the Moroccan authorities, was unequivocally recognized by spokesperson of Norwegian Foreign ministry, Ragnhild Imerslund, who confirmed that the children of Skah were illegally smuggled out of the national territory with the aid of Norway’s embassy in Rabat and Norwegian agents recruited to this end.
The Moroccan Olympic champion Khalid Skah praised the “strong” and “right” position of the Moroccan government over his children kidnapping.
“This position is an honour to Morocco and has preserved its reputation and sovereignty,” Skah said at a press conference in Rabat attended by national and foreign media, especially from Norway.
The 10,000 Om-Olympic champion in Barcelona also lauded the “exemplary” Moroccan diplomacy, which, he said, has given a good image of the Kingdom.
